Apply to sell at the Vagabond Indie Craft Fair!

Woohoo, it’s Vagabond time again!

Urban Bazaar will host our Spring Vagabond Indie Craft Fair on May 5th & 6th, noon-7pm.

Get all the deets & apply to be a vendor here! Applications are due by March 25th!

We’re always looking for fun “extras” too. Know a massage therapist who wants to give 5 min. massages to promote their business? Do you make amazing cookies you want to sell out front, to help get people in the door? Have a friend who’s acoustic band wants to play during the fair? Free crafty demos and workshops to offer? If so, email us at UrbanBazaarSF@gmail.com!

BYOB Craft Night Strikes Again!

What do you get when you put a bunch of crafters together, give them a space to be creative, and let them drink?

Come on down to URBAN BAZAAR this Thursday (Oct. 21st) from 6:30-9pm to find out!

Bring a project to work on, some tasty libations, and your creative friends. We’ll provide coffee, snacks, and crafty company. You can get a head-start on your handmade holiday gifts while getting to know some other local artists and craftspeople. And you can even do some early holiday shopping if you want! We’re staying open after-hours just for you, so why not take us up on this great offer?

Two upcoming events!

URBAN BAZAAR is hosting 2 awesome events in the next couple of weeks…

B.Y.O.P. (Bring Your Own Pumpkin) Carving, Sat. Oct. 16th 1-4pm.

Bring a pumpkin, some pumpkin carving equipment, and enjoy the company of other Halloween enthusiasts while you carve out your creativity. We will have a few extra design templates and carving tools on hand if you need them.  And if you want to pick up a pumpkin on your way, stop in at Clancy’s Pumpkin Patch (7th and Lawton)- they have generously offered to give a 10% discount to folks who are coming to BYOP at URBAN BAZAAR (say you’re a friend of Briana’s!).

B.Y.O.B. Craft Night, Thurs. Oct. 21st, 6-9pm

URBAN BAZAAR will be hosting our second monthly BYOB Craft Night on the 21st. Just in time for you to make some awesome Halloween and Dia de los Muertos projects you’ve been dreaming about! As usual, bring your own beverages (FYI: we will be making sure everyone with an alcoholic drink is over 21) and a project to work on, and hang out with other crafty folks at this after-hours event. We will have some coffee and snacks (for free!).

B.Y.O.B. Craft Night- this Sunday!

How much do we love secondhand furniture?

We’ve been furniture shopping! Having a *shockingly* small budget for our furniture and displays is a challenge, but a fun one.It helps that we’re already dedicated to getting as much secondhand furniture as possible (we do love to re-use old things), because that’s really the only way we can afford to do it! And we love scrounging around in garage sales and junk shops for treasure.

We spent last weekend doing the garage sale rounds, and came across some great finds. An old glass curio cabinet, a huge mirror, some benches for the back yard, and a big old desk. And then today we did a trip to the East Bay. First stop was Ikea… I know, I said we’re into buying things secondhand, but sometimes you just need a particular bookcase that can’t be found at a garage sale. So yes, we went to Ikea. I had never realized there was an “as-is” section near the checkout area… and it’s incredible! We got two huge cubby-hole bookcases for 50% off. What a steal. Then we were off to Urban Ore (http://urbanore.ypguides.net/)- a wonderland of recycled furniture and other fun stuff- for more secondhand goodies. Luckily Briana’s friend works there, so thanks to him we got a great deal on a beautiful-yet-beatup corner cabinet/bookshelf. It’s a bit rickety, but we’ll nail it back together just fine.

For now, everying is in Brandi’s living room (thanks to her roommates who haven’t complained one bit!), and we’re itching to move it all into the store. We need to finish sanding and priming some of the pieces so we can paint them, too. Bright colors, here we come.

Here are a few photos from last Thursday when we got approved for our loan. Happy day!

Hi-Everybody!

Hello, my name is Briana and I am co-owner of a (soon-to-be) shoppe called Urban Bazaar. We peddle unique, ethically minded and informative handmade, Fair Trade, recycled, local and artistic jewelry, housewares and minor randomness.

Our wares are made by not only my business partner, Brandi and myself, but other San Franciscans, US, and World artisans as well. So if you are looking for a truly unique, handmade and socially conscious gift, jewelry or what-not with a story, we are the place to shop!

Starting in mid-July, we can be found at 1371 9th Ave in the Inner Sunset of San Francisco, CA. More information will be added as we acquire it, so stay tuned and start counting the days till we open. We sure are!!!
